Rockland Lake State Park

Rockland Lake State Park is a beautiful park that was opened over six decades ago. It lies between the Hudson River one of the Hook Mountain’s ridges and is among the parks in the Palisades Interstate Park System. It has two large swimming pools and two small kiddie pools, along with two active golf courses and six exciting tennis courts.

Those who love fishing can check Rockland Lake; it has several species such as perch, norlunge, and bass. Around the lake is a fitness trail for joggers and walkers. During the winter, there are sledding slopes and designated ski trails.

The best thing about Rockland Lake State Park is that it’s open all year round. However, between 1st May and 30th September, dogs are not allowed into the park. You can only bring your dog from 1st October to 31st March and make sure it doesn’t move on the improved pathways or bike paths.

Boating
There is an exclusive site for launching car-boats for the public in the Rockland Lake State Park. It offers visitors a chance to take boat rides into the lake or across the river.

Bicycling
There is a 3.2-mile paved trail dedicated to cyclists only, no vehicles allowed. It is safe for riders of all ages without motorists’ risks.

Fishing
Anglers can have fun at the Rockland Lake, where there are norlunge, bass, and perch.

Golfing
The two 18-hole vast golf courses are strategically located in the Rockland Lake State Park Golf Course. One is executive, while the other is a championship golf course. If you want to test your golfing skills, use the championship course. It has fairways lined with trees and a rolling terrain that doesn’t make things easy for golfers. The 37 bunkers are well-placed, but the par 3s is not a walk in the park. In the executive course, the holes are par 3s, but their length varies between 110 yards and 213 yards.

Hiking
Along Hudson River, you will find trails filled with gravels where you can walk while enjoying an excellent view over the Hudson Valley, Westchester County, Tappan Zee Bridge, and the river. It is safe and always has people, but the best time to hike is during the day.

Picnic sites
The park has plenty of picnic tables where families or groups of friends can have fun. But there are picnic shelters or grills.

Tennis
Tennis players are free to play between March and late November at the Rockland Lake State Park.

Water Sports
Rockland Lake State Park is the home to two large Olympic-size pools and two small kiddie swimming pools. One of them is as big as 22, 140 square foot and has diving boards. The public is permitted to access the pools between Memorial Day up to Labor Day.

Winter Sports
Rockland Lake State Park allows visitors to enjoy designated skiing and sledding across the park. Anglers can also do ice fishing. This is a park with activities for visitors throughout all the seasons of the year including winter.
